We place great emphasis on future residents learning about cooperative communities and in participating in this community. We offer a two hour seminar in Ajijic, Mexico in order for you to see if this type of living appeals to you. We are currently in the process of making this seminar available on our website.

After this two hour seminar, you may continue by attending several other one hour talks and future homeowners meetings at the Rancho La Salud Village Common House.  If you live outside the area, it is time to come to Ajijic and visit us!

We want you to understand the process, and realize the fun and excitement in forming your own community. We feel that when you are ready, you will invest in your future here. When you purchase your lot you become a community member with voting rights. All are welcome to attend and express their ideas.

We  are building on the experience gained from other similar communities developed over the last 30 years. We know that members working together to form their community will get the most out of living together.  We are getting to know each other, and  having fun together before the residences are completed and we get to move in.

For those not yet living in the Lake Chapala area, we offer referrals of books and videos about different aspects of your "community-to-be". Come down and see us!

Books we recommend:

  • CoHousing: A Contemporary Approach To Housing Ourselves, Charles Durrett and Kathryn McCamant
  • Creating Cohousing: Building Sustainable Communities, Charles Durrett
  • The Senior Cohousing Handbook, Charles Durrett, second editon
  • Reinventing Community, Dave Wann
  • The Cohousing Handbook: Building a Place for Community, Chris Hanson and  Chris ScottHanson

You may look up these books on the internet. They are available in paperback and are not expensive.

Lake Access

Rancho La Salud Village is directly connected to property across the street south down to the Lake where the one-acre greenhouse is located. We will provide village access to the lake through a members only policy  and develop this area into a farm club area for our villagers. Later this area will be developed into a  health resort and farm  center.
